Wool Week takes place annually as an important way of promoting the Campaign for Wool. This year marks the fifth year of Wool Week and runs from 18th May to 24th May with events being held throughout Australia to celebrate wool and its uses. Many of the events include guest appearances by celebrity Merino ram Fred!
The Campaign for Wool is a global community of sheep farmers, retailers, designers, manufacturers and consumers - the wool lovers! MiniJumbuk is a proud member of this community. The community is united by its patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. The Prince of Wales initiated the campaign in 2009 in direct to response to the plight of sheep farmers who were struggling to sell their clip (shorn fleece).
The Campaign for Wool aims to educate as many people as possible about the incredible eco- benefits of wool and its versatility as a valuable commodity in fashion, furnishings and everyday life. This in turn supports many small businesses and local farmers in Australia, whose livelihoods depend on the wool industry. As MiniJumbuk is based in a rural farming area of South Australia, supporting local farmers is close to our hearts.
MiniJumbuk is one of 32 retail partners taking part in supporting Wool Week and this year the slogan is 'I wool if you wool'. Why not check out the Campaign for Wool's webpage where there are links to purchase fabulous designer merino wool t-shirts with the campaign slogan. You can also enter the 'surround yourself with wool' competition and be in running to win a $1,000 voucher.
