Nestled in the heart of the Limestone Coast, surrounded by towering red gums, lush farmland and grazing sheep is the thriving regional town of Naracoorte.. Synonymous with Naracoorte is MiniJumbuk: home of Australia's favourite wool bedding and one of the longest standing businesses in the town. Since 1977, MiniJumbuk has had a retail presence here. Hard work, dedication and a passion for wool has seen the business change and expand, outgrowing several locations before landing in a relocated, World War 2 airplane hangar at its current location of 61 Smith Street.
The original, leased premises in the Oddfellows Hall at 162 Smith Street, provided the first permanent home for the newly purchased quilting machinery, and offered a shop front from which to sell the quilts and souvenir sheep (Mini Jumbuks) on which the business was founded. In 1983, MiniJumbuk proudly purchased its first premises at 10 Ormerod Street, which again catered for both the manufacturing and retail aspects of the business. Photos of the 'MiniJumbuk Wool Centre' show they had added sheepskins, ugg boots and woollen underlays to the existing range of quilts and souvenirs. With the increasing popularity and demand for woollen bedding, and by adding woollen car seat covers, pillows and even Santa suits to their production schedule, the business expanded rapidly. It was only three years later, in 1986, that MiniJumbuk purchased its current site.
Today, the MiniJumbuk Factory Outlet remains true to tradition, promoting the MiniJumbuk brand in a vibrant, retail environment. While there are no longer instore sheep shearing demonstrations, a viewing area offers visitors the opportunity to see the pride our team take in handcrafting our bedding products. History boards depict our 40 year, strong history and all MiniJumbuk quilts, pillows and mattress toppers, including a wide range of high quality factory seconds are available at very reasonable prices. Retail Manager Oliver, continues to focus on promoting wool and premium, iconic Australian brands including St Albans, Toorallie and Emu Australia.
