David Cross | Sales Representative
You are the MiniJumbuk Sales Representative in Canberra and regional NSW for MiniJumbuk's major customers, what is your favourite part of the job?
The welcome I get when I visit the stores, I am not David Cross, I am David from MiniJumbuk or the MiniJumbuk Man, it is wonderful to represent such a wonderful product which is loved and admired by the staff, the relationship with MiniJumbuk, the stores and the staff makes my job very pleasant. Not many suppliers have this relationship.
You have been part of the MiniJumbuk team for many years now, how and when did you become part of the team?
I think it was in the late 80's, Don Wray had just won the National Small Business Award for SA and was in Canberra to receive his award, my father Jack was his agent and I was given the task of making sure his dinner suit looked good. We had worked with Onkaparinga and Don was making the Woolover quilt for them. When Don started to make his own Overwool quilt and Underwool underlay, we worked with him directly and we secured a large order with a group of stores called JB Young. I think at this stage MiniJumbuk were making about 8-10 quilts per week and the order was for about 200 units. This was the start of a fantastic relationship between MiniJumbuk and Jack Cross Agencies.
Tell us why wool is a great bedding option for Canberra?
In Canberra and surrounding districts we can guarantee there will be a winter and for warmth and comfort there is no better product. We also have hot summers and our lighter weight quilts are perfect even when the nights can turn cool. Our Toppers (formerly underblankets) provide year round comfort, we have no need to reverse our toppers with our perfect climate! Our pillows are a wonderful addition and are accepted as completing the MiniJumbuk experience.
What is your 'must have' MiniJumbuk product and why?
Definitely my Luxury+ Mattress Topper, I have slept on a few underblankets over the years, but nothing has been as comfortable as this one, of course our quilts are perfect to sleep under but for that instant comfort I love my Luxury+ Mattress Topper.
